Baking with helpers
always starts with 
good intentions‍

they’ll love it!‍

I talk about weights, scales,
balance‍

so I can tick off ‘maths’‍

They bicker over
aprons
bowls
measuring cups‍

on a knife edge
‍excited
bored
distracted
bored
impatient
bored bored bored.

Later – when the cakes have 
risen and cooled and drowned 
in icing – we will giggle through 
chocolate teeth

And Daddy will be presented with
his own special cupcake and 
a hand-written note
so he knows what it is: ‘2020 cack’‍

must work on spelling‍

But for now
they’re watching Paw Patrol and 
I’m clearing up 
again‍
